The campground has fully serviced sites for either seasonal or overnight stays as well as year-round cabin rentals. Cabins are spread throughout the pines making it a peaceful and relaxing stay – and that smell of fresh evergreen can’t be beat. South Junction Clearview Coop
Want to explore in Sunrise Corner? The Clearview Coop in South Junction is a great central location from which to go boating at Buffalo Point or Birch Point on Lake of the Woods, get a little fishing in at Moose Lake Provincial Park, or go trail riding in Sandilands Provincial Forest. Clearview Coop has it all – four motel rooms, delicious home-cooked food, convenience store with grocery basics, as well as gas (self-serve pumps and cardlock) and propane. Call ahead 204-437-2643 to book your room or order food as you’re driving down PTH12 – currently the diner is open daily for take-out from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Woodridge Vintage Lodge
Looking for an escape to a part of Manitoba you haven’t explored yet? Woodridge’s Vintage Lodge is in the heart of the Sandilands Provincial Forest with miles of scenic trails for you and your family to explore. The Lodge has four 580-square-foot, cottage-style suites finished with a natural pine interior. With your very own kitchenette and the Vintage Corner Store for groceries right next door, you’re able to cook your own delicious meals. Vita Hotel
Maybe you spent the day tubing on the Roseau River or hiking the Tall-Grass Prairie Preserve, one of the largest and last remaining tall-grass prairie landscapes left in North America. All you need now is a good meal to round out your day. The Vita Hotel is open Thursday to Saturday from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm offering home cooked food and cold beverages, both take out and dine in (limited seating capacity due to COVID-19). The hotel rooms are currently not being booked due to the pandemic, but keep this charming, small-town hotel in mind for a future weekend hideaway. Vassar Community Park & Campground
Surrounded by the fragrant pines of Sandilands Provincial Forest is the Vassar Community Park and Campground. This sprawling, well-maintained park is home to three baseball diamonds, outdoor heated pool, playground, covered picnic shelter and campground – great for weekend ball tournaments or family reunions. Due to COVID-19, only the pool will open and only for pre-registered swimming lessons but visit their Facebook page for more information and updates as the summer progresses.
Sprague River Inn
The Sprague River Inn is a quaint eight-room country inn located just two hours south of Winnipeg on PTH12. While rooms are not available for booking during the pandemic, they do have a licensed lounge and outdoor patio where visitors can enjoy a cold beverage on a hot summer day. Gardenton Park
In the past, Gardenton Park has offered free camping during events like the Gardenton Ukrainian Festival and AC Music Festival as well as overnight camping during the summer months. With COVID-19, all events have been cancelled this year. But keep Gardenton in mind for future consideration as a fun weekend escape located right next to the Roseau River which is great for canoeing, kayaking and tubing. The expansive site also includes the Gardenton Ukrainian Museum and a great tobogganing hill providing winter fun for the whole family.
