There are so many great small businesses in our region and Sunrise Corner Economic Development is proud to promote and help grow these businesses that add so much to our communities. We’ve got two initiatives coming up that will provide online platforms for local businesses based in the RMs of Piney and Stuartburn to reach more customers, increase awareness and potentially increase sales.
Holiday Shop Local Campaign
We are excited to once again be promoting local holiday shopping through the Holiday Shop Local Campaign. Starting December 1, we will be posting holiday gift-giving ideas on Sunrise Corner Economic Development’s Facebook page offered by local businesses that are based in the RMs of Piney and Stuartburn. So if you’re a bricks and mortar retail store or a home-based service provider, or if you’re a maker, baker, artisan, artist, author or direct seller who sells your products online or at local farmer’s markets, we want to hear from you.
Just send an email with the subject line “Holiday Shop Local Campaign”. Include any or all the following information that will help tell the story of your gift-giving product or service:
- Name or Company Name – how your customers know you
- Product or Service – share the unique features and benefits to make it really stand out
- Special Promotions – bulk discounts, buy-one/get-one offer, gift cards, etc.
- Ordering Options – online, in-person at store or event, telephone, email, via social media, etc.
- Payment Options – cash, e-transfer, cheque, credit card, online, etc.
- Delivery Options – curb-side pick-up, in-person delivery, Canada Post, pick up at event, etc.
- Social Media and/or Website Links – make it easy for customers to buy from you
- Product/Service Photo – make sure your offering looks as appealing as possible
Feel free to send me an email to ask how you might best promote your product or service. I’m here to help you get the word out about your unique gift-giving idea.
Online Business Directory
We are also working on an online searchable business directory as a 24/7 way to promote local businesses. If your business is listed in the RM of Piney or RM of Stuartburn business directory, your listing will appear in the new online version. If you aren’t currently listed, just let me know you’d like to be included, email all the relevant information requested above with the subject line “Online Directory” and we’ll be sure to add your listing.
Once the directory goes live, there will be an opportunity to claim your listing and update it yourself, adding a logo, photos, longer descriptions of your products or services, seasonal updates, and a Google map so customers can find you. If you have any questions, please email me.
Future Blog Posts
With the updated information we collect from these two initiatives, we’ll be creating blog content for future posts on our website, that we in turn share on social media. In the past, we’ve done articles on business categories like essential services, accommodations, and authors in the region. Ensure your business gets the awareness it deserves by reaching out to ensure we know all about your products and services.
Throughout the past 20 months, we’ve learned there’s a lot we can do to be more self-sufficient. We grew gardens for fresh produce, we spent more time staycationing to see the amazing sites in our own backyards, and we bought a lot more of the products we use every day from local retailers. Let’s keep this shop-local tradition going to keep our communities strong and growing – and the best way to do that is to make sure your customers know about your business.
