Rural Municipality of Piney
Public Works Department

The RM of Piney is located in the southeastern corner of the Province of Manitoba and encompasses an area
approximately 2,434 square kilometers. The RM consists of 12 communities with a total population of
around 1,826 people. The principal industries in the area are agriculture, peat moss harvesting and forestry.
Applications are being accepted by the RM of Piney for the full-time position of Public Works Labourer with
an anticipated start date of October 30th, 2023.
The posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Summary of Responsibilities:
The position of Public Works Labourer involves the performance of general manual labor, operation of
construction, repair, and maintenance of infrastructure within the Municipality.
Duties:
 Perform maintenance, repair, and construction duties to maintain and improve infrastructure within the Municipality
 Supervise & monitor contractors in the performance of duties
 Operation of RM machinery
 Perform general property maintenance
 Other related duties as assigned by Public Works Supervisor

Qualifications:
 Heavy equipment experience is an asset;
 Experience or knowledge of basic land surveying is an asset;
 A valid Class 3 driver’s license preferred, must be willing to attain a Class 3 driver’s license;
 A good working knowledge of the utilization of road construction and maintenance equipment;
 Must be able to perform manual labor;
 Criminal Records Check and Driver’s Abstract;
 Must be willing to accept professional development opportunities;
