Seasonal
Assistant Biologist, contract position Critical Wildlife Habitat Program (CWHP) for the Manitoba Tall Grass Prairie Preserve, located near Gardenton, Manitoba.
Assist with:
- coordinating work activities with other staff
- monitoring endangered and other rare species
- sampling vegetation plots
- managing non-native species
- mapping locations using a handheld GPS unit
- entering data into computer (MS Word, MS Excel, ArcGIS)
Qualifications:
- must possess a valid driver’s licence
- must possess a vehicle for daily use on the job (reimbursement for work use)
- must have the ability to work outdoors in a field location
Qualities considered to be assets:
- working knowledge of the prairie flora and fauna; and identification techniques
- familiar with handheld GPS units
- knowledge of general ecological principles
- familiar with legal land descriptions and ability to interpret aerial photographs
May 27 – Aug 30 work term; 40 hours/week (Monday – Friday)
$16.55 – 21.00/hour, depending on experience
