July 2021 Economic Development Update:

As Manitoba hits its first vaccination target and we hear about the US border potentially opening on July 5 to those who are fully vaccinated, many businesses, especially those who rely on tourists, are looking forward to sunnier days ahead. Here are three resources to help those businesses put their best foot forward.

Manitoba Tourism Education Council (MTEC)

MTEC was established in 1989 as a provincially funded, not-for-profit organization that ensures the sustainability of Manitoba’s tourism and hospitality industry by delivering proven training programs to preserve and enhance the level of customer service, skills training, safety programs and general business training. Each year MTEC trains roughly 11,000 individuals via online services, at their training centre in Winnipeg, and at group sessions across the province.

In response to the circumstances surrounding COVID-19, MTEC launched a new program in 2020 called Clean It Right. The program is FREE to businesses in the tourism, hospitality and retail sector in Manitoba. Learn more >

Eastman Tourism

The Eastman Tourism Association’s mission is to grow tourism in Eastern Manitoba with marketing assistance, knowledge building, enhancing community partnerships and helping develop the tourism experience. ETA’s goal is ultimately to build Eastern Manitoba as a vibrant tourism destination where visitors are openly welcomed and entrepreneurial spirits grow and prosper.

Eastman Tourism can help develop your tourism experience and market your business, group or community to visitors in the region. In 2021 Eastman Tourism is offering FREE partnership to tourism businesses located in Eastern Manitoba. Fill out the form, send it in and start receiving the benefits of partnership. Learn more >

Rural Manitoba Economic Development Corporation (RMED)

The Rural Manitoba Economic Development Corporation (RMED) is a new organization created in late 2020 to improve, support and increase success for economic development in Manitoba. RMED will strive to support Manitoba communities, economic development offices, and businesses by:

  • Collaborating with communities to grow capacity for economic growth.

  • Navigating government regulations, legislation and initiatives that impact businesses, communities, municipalities and the Manitoba economy.
  • Being a champion for rural Manitoba, promoting what it has to offer and success stories.
